MICHAEL SMITH

The Winter Haven Chapter has been fortunate to have Michael Smith as our Music Director since 2009. Mike has been involved in local music organizations since his junior high school years in Haines City as a vocalist, organist, pianist, percussionist and conductor.

Mike's full-time job is Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in Haines City, where he conducts a music program of adult and children's choirs, handbells, orchestra and wind ensemble.

He is an effective and enthusiastic teacher of vocal fundamentals that every singer needs to use and improve on, and it does it with wonderful humor. Mike has degrees in diverse and management, and belongs to several local and national music organizations, including the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Mike is married to soprano soloist Amy, who has sung several times in our chorus performances of Lida Rose from The Music Man. They have three children, Rosemary, Elizabeth and David, who is a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
